Remote work… works
It costs a lot to have an office and yet, before the beginning of the pandemic, most businesses were reluctant to allow their team to work remotely. This was due to the expectation that productivity would drop. But, a study from GreatPlaceToWork.com,found that productivity actually increased. In fact, In May 2020, they found that productivity increased by 13%.
Now, businesses are more willing to have remote workers. And there’s a good reason for it. On top of productivity increase, a study found that save on average $22 000 per employee that works remotely. And this extends to employees as well. They save between $2 000 to $5 000 when working remotely. That’s a very good incentive for businesses looking to keep their talents and acquire new ones.
Accelerated change
Other than moving to remote work, almost half of businesses say that the pandemic has permanently accelerated their adoption of new technologies. From Dec 2019 to July 2020, the share of products and services that were partially or completely digitalized rose by 20%. According to IBM, 59% of businesses accelerated digital transformation, and 66% completed initiatives that previously encountered resistance. This demonstrates the importance of being at the forefront of technology adoption. Both to acquire and keep talents but also to stay competitive in a forever-changing market.
